Hi All,

Quick update, got a bunch of stuff happening including and exhibition with some lovely ladies starting on the 2nd december at Prague Bar in Thornbury! Hope to see all that can make it there!

Hi all! Been so busy with random little jobs and bog day job that I have had very little time to update recently. Just finished this little self portrait today so I could use it instead of a photo on a site offering info about the artists involved in the Neighbourhoods calendar being launched at Lamington Drive on the 18th of November. Would love to see ya there! Also, Myself and 5 other lurverly ladies have a group show which will be opening on the 2nd of December. More details to follow! :D

Damn! It's been some time since i last put anything up here! It's been a bit of a whirlwind recently! Lots of entering of competitions and getting into some books. Lots of projects on the go. I promise I will finish some up soon!

Got some great new ideas, and I hope you'll dig em.

Anyways, hopefully these will tide you over until I have some fancy new scribbles completed.

JUST SAY NO! That's right! Stop emailing me Stock illustration Houses! I am against you because I am for illustration as a viable source of income! Using Stock Illustration makes a project look generic and tired. Sure you can get a quick drawing of a hand for $2, but will it be any good or set you apart from your competitors?? I doubt it.

Hire an illustrator to create interesting, individual and above all marketable images for your next project.

And this isn't me demanding work, hire me, hire someone else, just get an illustrator.

I got a bit bored with flat colour, and since this is for myself, I decided to use the one thing that I can't stand....GRADIENTS! Anyways, I am liking it, it's close to done, just work on the tikis, flowers and leaves, then into Photoshop for some texture fun.

After the last two months, I have barel had time to do any work and havenot produced a complete new piece in cartoony silliness in a while. I started back tonight by beginning on a project that had been niggling at me since the start of the year. Welcome to tiki island! Ok, so the other one wasn't tall enough, so I did a new one with different style of feathers.. I don't like this one as much because the feathers are done badly...but I only worked on it for about 2 hours, so that's ok. The reference style that I was asked to emulate looked like scraperboard and I'll be damned if I can do that with a pen, let alone scraperboard itself.... Oh Well. I will post a link to the poster it goes on as soon as it's made.

Hiyo! New animal for Skipping Girl Vinegar , the graceful and much respected king of the bird world.....the pigeon :S Got to their website to see more animals and listen to their music! Heck...buy lots of animal covered stuff while you are there....pick up a CD it,s got some sketches in it.....

Anyways, these are always a challenge and normally take about 3 hours to do, so a long time for me to do black and white work.... Anyways, enjoy...the Raven will be coming later tonight as soon as it is finished, and I will try to post the rest of the animals I have done for them to, the penguin is an absolute winner!

Hi Again! This is blogging madness! Here are some sketches I have to develop into t a piece for the back of a box of checkers. Brief was to have one child and one adult of opposite sexes (Mum and Son or Dad and Daughter) having a fun game of checkers with the colours predominately black and red. They both have to be having heaps of fun.....well, let's give it a go. Again I will post my progess as I go! It's kinda fun that way! :D

Ok, At school we were discussing the importance of showing our method of working, i.e showing sketches, start to finish etc so I figured with the Illustrators Australia 9x5 Exhibition comming up and me having a sum total of 1 & 1/2 Days to do the piece from Yay to Nay, that this would be a good one to document. So here goes. At the moment I am up to burnishing the sketch onto the ply and that will be the last thing I do tonight as the light is too low to paint by. Otherwise, here are all the other sketches, has taken me about 3 solid hours from beginning to this point, so probably a little slow. I had the idea, but not th layout, so a lot was trying to figure that out....anyways.....cast your peepers below and enjoy "Fingers and Toes: Sketching and Roughs are Boring" A blog topic brought to you by the number 20 and the letter B. (Sorry about the quality of some of the images, I lost the cable for the scanner, then found it again, only after I had badly photographed these, and lets face it, there's no time to be doing things twice! :D)

Spots and Zines and Other Things

Okay! Well, bad news, the website is not up yet.....All of my best laid plans have been shattered. First of all there was an issue with the html on one of the pages and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what was wrong, and being that I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, I am determined to figure it out for myself and know how to fix it in future. The second problem, is not a problem as such, bu did move the timeline around a bit. Got a quick job on spot illustration for a training manual (Post Below) and apparently they went down well with the client so it will be a regular sort of deal! :D So getting the website had to wait until that was done. Now I want to get the Website up, but I have 1 day to do the piece for the 9x5 exhibition and 1 day to do a mock brief for a checkerboard box! (Which I think is great fun!) So to tide the people who are waiting for my website over, I am posting the images from the zine that I did in May 2009 for the Claustrophobia exhibition! I am also currently working on another zine entitled "Beatnik or Banana" in which the reader will have to guess if the picture is a Beatnik or a Banana! Sounds Easy?? Well.....IT IS! Will post stuff as soon as I have it!

Ok, so this weekend I finished a walk cycle (my first) that started out as a project for using the bones tool in CS4. The Bones tool is painful and annoying, so I decided to make him walk properly instead.

Also, I redid the ball again...not to sure about this one.

Bouncing a Ball

Luckily I have a little time to post some stuff as we are currently in class learning how to make a ball bounce in flash...but like a TV Chef, I had one prepared earlier, and here it is...the amazing bouncing ball

Can't figure out how to loop it, and am looking forward to improving it. Anyhoo, here's a picture, this one was for a local band that I know and they wanted something a little weird, a little fun and a whole lotta spontaneous.

Well this post actually took the whole class to write as I kept tweaking the ball timing. Am still not happy with it, but alas, the road to learning animation is long and paved with embarrassment.

Blogging?

Up until now, blogging has been akin to jogging..something I just don't do. Like jogging, blogging is somewhat of a spectator sport for me, I like to see people jog, and i like to read others blogs (Most notably, my unhealthy addiction to John K's blog -have a look, the man is brilliant and you will not be disappointed.)

With all of that unnecessary rhyming out of the way, I am unsure as to what is left to say...I will try and keep this updated, I will add some pictures (finished and sketches) as soon as I have a moment (Currently have a ten day deadline on some book illustrations so it may be later rather than sooner) and post up stuff that I think is great.
